The good weather brought out the HLR members and their cars in record numbers, including no less than seven Mk VIs.. We shared a stand with Club Elite and there must have been over fifteen HLR cars on display, most of which enjoyed some high speed laps of the circuit.

Notable in the line-up was John Watson with his just-restored Six, Jack Taylor with his newly finished Mk VI with all enveloping body, the rare Lotus SS of Philip Jewell with Lotus twin cam engine, and John Bolding's immaculate Lotus 47A.

Castle Combe is the first time that Vincent Haydon's beautiful Seven S3 S has been seen in public for 20 years. This very significant and unique car was built for display at the 1969 Racing car show and, at £1600, was at the time the most expensive Seven ever offered for sale. It was Holbay engined and completely leather trimmed.

The historic cars line up for their track run with Lyn Padfield in front.

Of historical interest is Gareth Williams' Mk VI which was built in 1957, long after Mk VI production had ended. The photographs show the non-standard front and rear end.
